DR. Priya Selvaraj

Dr. Priya Selvaraj MD, DNB, MCE, MNAMS, FICOG is a senior consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology with specialization in reproductive medicine and clinical embryology. She has more than 25 years experience in the field and is currently the Director of G.G.Hospital, Fertility research and women’s specialty center, Chennai, India

 In 1997, obtained MBBS degree from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai and completed her MD (OG) & DNB in the year 2000.

Member of the National Academy of Medical Science (MNAMS) since 2000.

Furtherly in 2006, she completed her MCE (Master’s Degree in Clinical Embryology and Andrology) at the Jones Institute of Reproductive Medicine, Eastern Virginia Medical School Norfolk, United States of America.

Shes a fellow of the Indian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FICOG) since 2020. She has journal publications as well as research presentations to her credit at both national and international level.

 She commissioned India’s first births of a singleton and twins born from frozen thawed oocytes by two different methods (slow freezing and vitrification) in the years 2008 and 2009.

 She has also established a successful preimplantation genetic screening and diagnosis program at GG, in 2013 and that resulted in South India’s first twin births following Pre-implantation genetic screening (PGS), in November 2014.

 She is a recipient of the outstanding woman achiever award from Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University in the year 2012 and the Wellness Ambassador Award from Shri Rakesh Sharma (First Indian Astronaut) in the year 2016, besides various other awards and felicitations.

She is a recipient of the Excellence in Embryology Award 2022-2023, a testament to her continued dedication and expertise in the field. As the year progressed, her achievements reached new heights, culminating in the prestigious Dronacharya Award in 2023-2024.

She is a recipient of the Hindu Generational Pride Award along with her mother Dr. Kamala Selvaraj for the outstanding contributions in pioneering the field of fertility treatment over the years in March 2024

Her current interests are fertility preservation in cancer patients (oncofertility) and pre-implantation genetic screening. 

More than 25,000 plus Babies have been born as a result of assisted reproduction done in this hospital since the year 1989.
