EMBRACE

Embryo Analysis of Culture Environment (EMBRACE)

What is EMBRACE?
Non-invasive test that helps your doctor to identify the optimal embryos to prioritize for transfer during the IVF cycle.

Who should use EMBRACE?

Couples who wish to increase their chances of pregnancy without
using invasive biopsy procedures.

 It helps to understand if the blastocysts have the correct number of chromosomes, which significantly increases their chances of leading to a successful pregnancy.

 EMBRACE scores embryos according to their probability of being healthy and
viable based on chromosomal information

How it is done?

 The blastocyst obtained from IVF treatment naturally releases DNA during their
development.
 The embryo develops in a drop of liquid called culture medium.
 As it grows, the embryo releases DNA into the culture medium.
 Embryologists collect the liquid and send the culture medium for testing.
 The test is valid only when embryos have been grown to 6 days of age and
are at the blastocyst stage.
 In the lab the liquid (culture medium ) is analyzed to detect the DNA released
from the blastocyst.
 This allows to provide with the result to indicate which embryos are most likely to
be chromosomally normal and therefore optimal for transfer.
 Sometimes the prolonged culture may alter the morphology of blastocysts. The
lab director will guide and decide incase to case basis – when to freeze or allow
for further culture( eg. D 5 ( D 6 or D 7 ))

Benefits / Advantages :

 It is a non-invasive test.
 It favours a safer and more effective IVF treatment.
 It avoids the need of embryo biopsies.
 Makes the treatment more accessible.
 Your blastocysts remain safe in your IVF lab itself.
Note : The concordance rates will vary between invasive & non-invasive tests eg.
98 – 99 % is 84 – 87 %
